The Argentina Shipyard was located around the coal storage yard of the Fuzhen Coal Mine during the Japanese colonial period. Until 1937, when a mineral transshipment wharf—receiving shipments from Jinguashi—was established, the area evolved into a hub for coal transshipment. Ships could conveniently load coal from this site, taking full advantage of the region's strategic benefits.
In addition, gold, copper, and other mineral ores produced in the Jinguashi area were first transported via mini-train to this location. They were then loaded onto feeder ships, transferred through Niuchou Harbor to larger vessels, and finally exported from Keelung Harbor to Japan. This area became an efficient transshipment center for both coal and mineral ores, not only accelerating resource circulation but also enhancing port operational efficiency, ultimately establishing itself as a key shipbuilding and coal storage hub of the time.
